Capability statement

The questions a serious buyer puts to an electronics repair contractor, answered in full — the most complete capability disclosure any Zambian electronics contractor publishes. Everything below is current practice, not aspiration.

Company

Answers to the standard RFQ questions

Do you repair at component level, or only swap boards?

Component level. We isolate the failed device on the board — IGBT and thyristor modules, gate drivers, DC bus capacitors, precharge circuits, control supplies — replace it, and test the repair. Board swapping is what we were set up to replace.

Do you have an electronics laboratory and workshop?

Yes — our own workshop at Plot 34, Harrison Chongo Road, Nyumbayanga, Lusaka, with the diagnostic and rework equipment listed on this page, plus PCB design and board-build capability.

Which drive and starter manufacturers do you support?

Schneider (Altivar, Altistart), ABB, Siemens (Sinamics, Micromaster), Danfoss VLT, WEG CFW, Motortronics, Yaskawa, Mitsubishi, and unbranded OEM drives built into machinery.

Can you repair IGBT, SCR and diode power stages?

Yes. Power-stage work — IGBT modules, thyristor and SCR stacks, rectifier diode banks, gate and firing boards — is routine bench work for us.

Can you repair or rebuild control and firing boards?

Yes, and when the board is discontinued we reverse-engineer it and design a replacement. The contactor coil economizer running at Lusaka Water since February 2026 is exactly that job.

Can you reverse-engineer and manufacture replacement PCBs?

Yes — schematic capture, multilayer PCB layout, embedded firmware, build and test, in-house. Our boards are exported monthly to a client in Texas, USA, and the power fabric of our own training board is published in Springer Nature's Discover Electronics.

Do you provide failure-analysis reports?

Every unit returns with a written report: fault found, root cause, parts replaced, test results. Reports are per serial number, so a batch can be tracked unit by unit.

What is your turnaround time?

Standard 5–7 business days from drop-off. Priority 48–72 hours under a maintenance agreement. For comparison, sourcing a new module from an OEM into Zambia normally takes 4–12 weeks.

Do you give a repair warranty?

6 months (180 days) workmanship warranty on every repaired unit. Same-fault failure inside the window is re-repaired at no charge.

Do you load-test repaired units before returning them?

Yes. A repair is not finished when the fault clears on the bench — units are run under load and the results recorded on the repair report. A drive that passes no-load tests and fails in service is not a repair.

Can you work on site at the mine?

Yes. We carry diagnostic equipment to site for fault-finding, commissioning, thermal inspections and PLC work, and bring units back to the workshop for board-level repair. We have a presence on the Copperbelt as well as the Lusaka workshop.

Do you offer emergency breakdown support?

Yes, under a service level agreement. Response times, priority turnaround and escalation contacts are written into the SLA so the commitment is contractual rather than best-effort. Priority bench turnaround under an agreement is 48–72 hours.

Can you give a mining reference?

We have delivered for JCHX Mining in Botswana, and our contracted framework client MTN Zambia runs the same repair discipline across its sites. Site-specific references are provided with a quotation on request.

Can you take a framework or maintenance agreement?

Yes — that is how we prefer to work. MTN Zambia is contracted on a framework repair agreement against a published fee schedule, with prices fixed for two years.

What happens if a unit cannot be repaired?

You pay the assessment fee only (ZMW 950 per unit) and receive the diagnostic report. No repair fee is charged, and we advise on the replacement or redesign options.

Do you handle batches from multiple sites?

Yes. Units are logged on intake with photographs and serial numbers, tracked on our own workshop system, and reported individually.

What are your payment terms?

No advance payment. Payment within 21 days of delivery and sign-off, against an approved purchase order.

Commercial terms

Diagnosis

Full bench diagnostics and fault isolation to component and board level, with the unit logged and photographed on intake.

Report

A written repair report per unit: what failed, the root cause, what was replaced, and the test results.

Warranty

6 months (180 days) workmanship warranty. If the unit fails for the same root cause inside that window, we re-repair at no charge.

Turnaround

Standard 5–7 business days from drop-off; priority 48–72 hours under a maintenance agreement. Importing a replacement typically takes 4–12 weeks.

Beyond economical repair

A flat assessment fee (ZMW 950 per unit) covers diagnostics and the report. No repair fee is charged for a unit we cannot save.

Payment

No advance payment. Payment due within 21 days of delivery and sign-off against an approved purchase order.

Pricing

A published fee schedule per unit type, fixed for two years once a framework agreement is signed — not a quotation per incident.

Testing

Repaired units are run under load before return, with the results recorded on the repair report.

Emergency support

Breakdown response, priority turnaround and escalation contacts written into a service level agreement.
