Privacy policy
This policy explains what personal data Hero Control Systems Limited ("HCS", "we") collects through www.hcsys.co, why, and what you can do about it. HCS is a company incorporated in Zambia, at Plot No. 34, Harrison Chongo Road, Nyumbayanga, Lusaka. We handle personal data in line with Zambia's Data Protection Act, 2021.
In short
- You can read this site without giving us your name, email or phone number.
- We count visits ourselves without cookies and without storing your IP address.
- We use Microsoft Clarity to see how pages are used. Clarity does use cookies. You can switch both off below.
- If you contact us, we use what you send only to answer you and to do business with you.
- We do not sell personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Visitor statistics
When a page opens, your browser tells our server which page it is. When you leave or switch tabs, it also sends how long you spent reading and how far down you scrolled. With that we record:
- a random visitor number kept in your browser's local storage, and a random visit number that lasts as long as the tab is open;
- the address of the site that linked you here, reduced to its domain (for example google.com), or the platform name on links we share on social media;
- your country, worked out by our hosting provider from your connection;
- whether you are on a phone, tablet or computer.
We do not set cookies for this, and we do not store your IP address, your name or anything you type. Search-engine robots and our own staff are not counted. Each day's records are combined into daily totals, and the individual records are then deleted. We use the totals to see which pages and articles are useful.
Microsoft Clarity
We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how visitors use the site, through anonymous recordings of mouse movement, clicks and scrolling, and heatmaps of where people click. Clarity sets its own cookies (such as _clck and _clsk), and Microsoft processes the data under the Microsoft Privacy Statement. Clarity is not loaded if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, or if you switch it off below.
Switch off statistics and Clarity
This stops both our own counting and Microsoft Clarity in this browser. The choice is stored in this browser only, so set it again on other devices.
When you contact us
The site has no sign-up forms. Our contact and partnership buttons open WhatsApp or your own email app, with the message filled in for you to send. What you send us — your name, company, email, phone number and message — reaches us through WhatsApp (run by Meta) or email. We use it to answer you, to quote, and to deliver work you ask for, and we keep it as long as needed for that business and for our legal and tax records.
Social media and our publishing tools
We share our articles on LinkedIn, Facebook, Google Business Profile and TikTok. When you use those platforms, their own privacy policies apply. Links we post there carry a tag naming the platform, so our statistics can show where a visit came from. That tag does not identify you.
Our staff publish articles and social posts through a private editor on this site. It stores their names, work emails and login history. Where it connects to HCS's own social media accounts, it stores only the access those platforms grant for posting, kept encrypted. It does not collect data about the people who follow or visit those accounts.
Who else handles the data
- Amazon Web Services hosts the site and our statistics. It handles your connection, including your IP address, to deliver the pages.
- Microsoft runs Clarity, as above.
- Meta runs WhatsApp, if you message us there.
These providers may store data outside Zambia, under their own safeguards. We share personal data with no one else, except where the law requires it.
Your rights
Under the Data Protection Act, 2021, you can ask us what personal data we hold about you and ask us to correct or delete it. You can also object to how we use it, or withdraw consent you gave. Write to admin@hcsys.co or call +260 974 546 632. We answer within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Data Protection Commissioner of Zambia.
Children
This site is for businesses and professionals. It is not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.
Changes
If we change how we handle personal data, we will update this page and its date. For anything else, see our contact page.
